What is this exercise?
The body scan exercise trains one of the 6 psychological flexibility (mindfulness) skills you can learn from the psychologists and counsellors at ACT of Living: Present Moment Awareness. Present Moment Awareness is the ability to mindfully connect to your environment, while also being responsive to your internal world – your thoughts, feelings and values.
Why is this important?
The challenges you face in life have a way of happening too fast. Sometimes there is just a lot happening going on. Present Moment Awareness gives you the ability to slow things down, notice more information and respond to the important or useful parts. Being mindful, in other words.
