When I was introduced to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy we were taught a ‘classic’ cognitive defusion mindfulness exercise called Leaves On A Stream. However I was working at RMIT University – a busy built-up campus on the edge of the central business district. Not many of the students I worked with got the opportunity to sit quietly by a peaceful stream in the countryside.

So as I worked on developing one of the first online programs in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, I created this more ‘urban’ version of Leaves On A Stream. It has the same function as Leaves On A Stream, but is called Thoughts On The Highway. Perhaps try them both and let me know which you prefer.
